Your Body Is A Jihadground
This poster was made as part of an online campaign, #LetUsTalk.
Campaign, mainly started on X (tweeter at the time) in early 2022, was a feminist movement by women from muslim and forced-muslim societies who were constantly shut down when criticizing the fundamental cultural and shari’a-based rules through a feminist angle by being labeled as “islamophobes”. Our lived experiences being denied, ridiculed and ignored, our characters were attached and pushed under patronizing major narratives, and any chance for improvement, and claiming autonomy on our community and society is rejected by another layer of oppression through the exoticizing lens that does not want to see the beyond the surface of a culture, weaponizing it for their on political purposes.
Campaign started with ordinary women telling their stories of oppression because of the fundamental sharia and misogynistic rules in Iran, Afghanistan and Arab countries and linked them through the hashtag in 2022.
One example of the stories was the mandation of Hijab on girls at the age of 7 in Iran when they start school, or else access to education is denied from them.
Picture shows the first Hijab photo a girl at the age of 7 has taken for a school ID and is used to make a poster based on the well-known poster Your Body Is a Battleground by Barbara Kruger.
